Position: Consumer Lending Officer
Supervisor: Chief Lending Officer
Job Brief: The full-time position of Consumer Lending Officer examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of customer applications for consumer loans by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
- Interviews applicant to determine consumer loan requirement and gather pertinent information for loan applications
- Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to loan applicant’s evaluation
- Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submits application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation.
- Resolves uncertainties relating to customer application information through inquiries with applicant or creditors.
- Approves loan within specified limits or presents loan request to the appropriate loan committee for approval.
- Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.
- Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy.
- Manages multiple customer loan and deposit relationships.
- Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.
- Responsible for the collection and preparation of loan documents to be sent to the Loan Operations Department (LOD) for processing, review, booking, funding, and indexing.
- Handle lien perfection such as recording of documents, filing of title applications, UCC Searches and filings, etc., as well as the release of such items as needed.
- Work closely with the LOD to ensure accurate loan documentation and compliance with regulations, and proper indexing and maintenance of loan files.
- Assist new and existing customers with questions, transfers, draw requests, posting of payments, and payoffs, etc.
- Identifies and analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for consumer loans
- Promotes and cross-sells other bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
- Complies with all regulations and bank approved policies and procedures.
- Participates in and completes all training/education available in a timely manner to stay abreast of the demands and requirements of the position.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting and supporting other departments as needed.
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
Practical Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience gaining strong marketing skills, the ability to close loans, and proper preparation of loan packages for loan committee and loan funding.
